Rannerdale Home seeks to return this gift by providing residents with a high standard of care in an environment which fosters their dignity and individuality, and which maintains their right to respect privacy and choice.

Dignity and Respect
You have the right to be treated as an individual, addressed by your preferred name and, be treated courteously by staff and all other persons responsible for your care.
Privacy and Confidentiality
You have the right to physical privacy when attending to personal hygiene, making telephone calls, receiving visitors or having personal discussions with staff or residents. All personal and health information provided by you to the Home will be treated in confidence.
Cultural and Religious Recognition
You have the right to continue with the cultural and religious practices and value systems that have determined your life in the past. This includes the right to have military and remembrance days acknowledged.
Freedom from Discrimination, Coercion, Harassment and Exploitation
You have the right to be free from discrimination, coercion, harassment, and sexual, financial or other exploitation.
Independence
You have the right to maintain your independence to the extent that your health will allow. In particular, you have the right to control over your personal matters including; possessions and clothing, financial matters, your activities and social life within the Home and in the community.
Personal and Health Care According to Your Needs
You have the right to personal and health care that is consistent with your needs and that maximises your quality of life, and is provided by staff and other health professionals who exercise reasonable care and skill.
Information and Consultation
You have the right to be informed and consulted on all matters that affect you, the right to receive information in a form you can understand, and the right to an interpreter if you require one. At all times you have the right to make informed choices and give informed consent.
Support
You have the right to have the support of one or more persons of your choice present at any time.
Teaching and Research
All of your rights extend to those occasions when you are participating in, or are asked if you are willing to participate in, teaching or research.
Complain
You have the right to raise any concern or complaint that you have, at any time and in any form you choose, and to have your concern or complaint taken seriously. You may complain by using one of the forms displayed in the Home, or verbally to a staff member. Alternatively, you may complain to:

And, you have a responsibility to:
* Be considerate of the rights of other residents and staff.
* Assist staff in looking after your health, and be responsible for your own actions if you refuse treatment or do not follow the health professionals' guidelines.
* Inform staff when you are leaving the Home, who you will be with, and when you expect to return.
* Adhere to any house rules.
